Abstract

In the paper, a study of optical-electronic intelligence and surveillance systems operating on various physical principles was carried out, and possible ways of their improvement and development were considered, with the aim of increasing the combat capabilities of weapons and military equipment and increasing their effectiveness when used as intended. It was noted that the fierce battles in the east of Ukraine require the implementation of fundamentally new modern concepts in the combat operations of the units regarding the comprehensive integration of the intelligence system, the system of managing units in modern combat, the communication system and the system of fire damage to the enemy. It is shown in the paper that the calculations for the evaluation of the fire to destroy enemy targets show that intelligence information about the target in modern combat has a great advantage over the combat power of the means of fire damage. Reliable, timely and accurate intelligence information, which provides detection, aiming, tracking and target designation, significantly affects the increase in the effectiveness of the combat use of fire weapons, all this directly affects the reaction time of combat calculations when they fulfill combat standards for preparing weapons and military equipment for use by destination, shooting accuracy and the probability of defeating the scouted targets. It is noted in the paper that modern optical-electronic reconnaissance and surveillance systems use electronic equipment based on television matrices, bolometric devices, and electronic optical converters. Modern directions of development and improvement of optical-electronic intelligence and surveillance equipment, which are equipped with military intelligence units, special operations forces and other units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, are proposed.

Keywords: physical principles, weapons and military equipment, combat calculations, optical-electronic means, probability of destruction, bolometers, matrix.
